Microdermabrasion

For common skin problems such as oily or dull skin, enlarged pores, acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, and mild pigmentary disorders, microdermabrasion is a gentle, effective option for many patients.

The Esprit PRO-xp™ is a microdermabrasion device manufactured by Parisian Peel®. The Parisian Peel® is currently the only manufacturer that combines crystal and non-crystal treatment options into one device. The non-invasive procedure uses a precision hand piece to direct either a spray of very fine, sterile crystals or a diamond-covered disk across the surface of the skin. This gently abrades away the dry and damaged surface cell layers, leaving the skin smoother and more vibrant. Treatments are provided in a series of sessions, usually at one- to two-week intervals, and involve no patient downtime. Follow-up care may include monthly maintenance sessions.

Microdermabrasion is also an excellent immediate pre-treatment for chemical peels and BelleDerm Skincare products. By removing dead skin layers, microdermabrasion opens the pores allowing chemical peel treatment products, cell turnover treatments, vitamin infusion serum or skin lighteners to penetrate deeper into the layers of the skin for better results.

More aggressive microdermabrasion can be used to improve the cosmetic appearance of severely damaged skin, such as hypertrophic scar revision on face, arms and legs or some stretch marks. As many as 20 treatments, applied twice weekly, may be required for optimal results.

Photography Documentation

Photo documentation and assessment is a necessity in aesthetic medicine. The Profect™ Photography System can take images from different camera angles with precise, consistent distance and image quality.

The Profect’s natural lighting assembly illuminates skin defects such as fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars and spider veins more clearly than ever before. In addition, the Ultraviolet Digital Analysis System quickly and easily shows the patient the real impact of solar and actinic damage, such as:

    * Cutaneous Ageing
    * Solar and Actinic Keratoses
    * Melasma
    * Dyschromia
    * Lentigo
    * Photodynamic Therapy Control
    * States of Cutaneous Dehydration

Intense Pulsed Light

Over time, natural skin aging and exposure to UV radiation from the sun make superficial blood vessels visible and cause the skin to produce pockets of irregular pigmentation.

The ProLite II Intense Pulsed Light System by Quantel Medical uses interchangeable filters that selectively block out unwanted UV and blue radiation, safely delivering broadband light to target chromophores (melanin and hemoglobin) to treat conditions such as:

    * Facial telangiectasias
    * Flushing and redness
    * Rosacea
    * Poikiloderma (red neck)
    * Redness following laser skin resurfacing
    * Age spots and liver spots
    * Pigmented lesions
    * Scar coloration and general skin elasticity

Light is applied to the treatment area using a 10x20 mm sapphire waveguide that can be fired every two seconds, allowing for treatment of large areas, such as whole faces, hands, necks and decolletes, shoulders and backs. Treating large areas not only addresses specific problem areas but also results in an overall improvement in skin texture, tone, pore size and collateral collagen building.

Treatments are typically provided in a series of sessions at two-week intervals. Patients can resume normal activities immediately. To maintain long-lasting improvement, follow-up care may include bi-annual maintenance sessions.

Permanent Hair Reduction

Traditional hair reduction methods -- shaving, waxing, tweezing and creams -- are all time consuming and short lasting. Until recently, the only effective method for hair reduction was electrolysis, a slow and painful process in which follicles are individually destroyed by electrical current. Since 1995, however, lasers have proven to be effective in providing fast and long-lasting hair reduction.

The MeDioStar XT by Asclepion offers the ultimate in safe hair reduction technology even for darker skin types. The high power of the 810nm diode laser allows larger spot sizes and ensures effective treatment down to the deepest follicle, while the laser’s unique double-pulsing technology guarantees preservation of surrounding tissue.

The pulse length is adjustable over a wide range up to 500ms and the spot size can easily be varied simply by changing the tip. The system automatically detects any spot size change and readjusts operating parameters. Integrated and monitored pre-cooling of the skin offers additional skin protection and comfort for the patient.

Vascular Lesions

Telangiectasia are small, spider-like veins that appear on the face or legs and can be either congenital or appear as part of the aging process.

Selectively absorbed by hemoglobin, The MeDioStar XT vascular hand piece will heat and destroy the vessel wall while sparing surrounding structures. Its scanning device allows for quick and safe treatment of veins.

Improvement is gradual and optimal results can take up to eight weeks. Anesthesia is not required, but patients will feel a hot and tingling sensation during the treatment. Side effects are minimal, although erythema may persist for a few hours.

Acoustic Wave Therapy

A New Treatment for Smoother, Firmer Skin

Dimpled or uneven skin is a nagging problem for millions of women, including those who work hard to keep fit. Through Acoustic Wave Therapy, women can achieve smoother skin in the areas where cellulite commonly forms — the thighs, buttocks, abdomen and arms.

“Countless lotions and potions have been marketed over the years to treat skin dimpling, generally with poor results,” said Paul Herchman, CEO of MedSurge Advances. “AWT represents a breakthrough in solving this age-old problem for women – a clinical treatment program implemented by physicians.”

Clinical results in Europe and the United States show that AWT patients typically experience improvement in skin texture, improvement in skin elasticity, dermal firming and circumference reduction, said Dr. Bill Johnson of the Prevention First medical spa, who conducted the first clinical trials of AWT in the United States.

“My patients have seen dramatic results in reducing cellulite from Acoustic Wave Therapy. Women who have tried everything — from diet and exercise to various over-the-counter remedies — have seen results for the first time from AWT,” Johnson said. “I’ve literally had patients come into my office with tears in their eyes to thank me for introducing them to this treatment.”

How AWT Treats Skin Dimpling?

While dimpled skin can be traced to genetics, hormones and lifestyle, the problem’s immediate cause is the accumulation of lipids in the fat cells. Swelling from lipid accumulation exerts pressure on the circulatory system, causing a slowdown both in the intake of nutrients and the drainage of waste products. Poor exchanges lead to a gradual stiffening of the connective tissue, which shortens as it stiffens, pulling the skin down. At the same time, the clusters of enlarged fat cells pull the skin up. The consequence of this push/pull mechanism is the appearance of dimpling.

Physicians have long used acoustic pulses to help patients ease the pain associated with poor circulation and stiff joints and tendons. Storz Medical has adapted this technology to improve the appearance of the skin.

Patients are treated twice per week for three weeks, with sessions generally requiring less than a half hour. Additional treatments are necessary for about 20 percent of patients. Patients may wish to have a maintenance session once every three months after completing the program.

Mesotherapy/Lipodissolve

Mesotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure administered by several injections to treat areas of fatty tissue that do not respond to diet and exercise.  These injections are delivered into the mesoderm (middle layer of the skin) and targets fat cell metabolism, stimulating the body to dissolve localized fat. Areas that respond well to treatment include the upper and lower abdomen, saddlebags and back.  The numbers of treatments vary depending on the patient’s response to treatment.  Some patients achieve desired results after 4 or 5 treatments while other patients may need more than 10 treatments.  There is no down time with mesotherapy; however it is recommended you do not actively exercise for 48 hours after treatment.

Botox

Botox™  cosmetic (Botulinum toxin type A) is used to improve the appearance of worry lines, frown lines, laugh lines, crow’s feet and other dynamic wrinkles.  Dynamic wrinkles are caused by contractions of the underlying facial muscles every time you smile, laugh or frown. Botox™ works by relaxing the muscles so they do not contract.  Botox™ injections have been used safely and effectively for over ten years to treat many opthamological and neurological disorders. The procedure is simple and safe.  With the use of a tiny micro-needle, small amounts of Botox™ are injected, very precisely into several locations on the face.  The pain associated with the injections is minimal; most patients compare the sensation to a bug bite. No sedation or local anesthetic is required and you resume normal activities immediately.

Juvéderm

Juvéderm™ is an injectable gel made from hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance in our skin.  It is injected into the skin where its smooth consistency helps to restore the skin’s volume and smooth away wrinkles and folds instantly. Juvéderm™ works particularly well on laugh lines and at the corners of the mouth and lips.  The injection process takes only about fifteen minutes and results are immediate and can last up to six months.
